Srila Prabhupada's Teachings on Temple Worship
Guidance from our Founder-Acharya
"In this age of Kali, people who are endowed with sufficient intelligence will worship the Lord, who is accompanied by His associates, by performance of sankirtana-yajna."
Srila Prabhupada emphasized that temple worship is essential for spiritual advancement. The temple is the house of God where devotees can come to offer their love and devotion to the Lord through various services.
"The temple worship is one of the most important features of devotional service. In the beginning one is advised to worship the Deity in the temple. There are two kinds of devotees. One is called goṣṭhānandī, and the other is called bhajanānandī. The word bhajanānandī refers to the devotee who does not move but remains in one place. Such a devotee is always engaged in the devotional service of the Lord."

The Importance of Seva in ISKCON
Devotional Service as the Path to Spiritual Advancement
Purification of Heart
"By regularly rendering devotional service, one gradually becomes attached to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. When that attachment is intensified, it becomes love of Godhead." Seva helps purify the heart and develop love for Krishna.
Spiritual Knowledge
"To those who are constantly devoted to serving Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me." Through seva, one gains spiritual knowledge and understanding.
Association of Devotees
"The devotees of the Lord always speak of the Supreme Lord and hear about Him. Thus they are constantly remembering the Lord." Seva provides the opportunity to associate with like-minded devotees.
Freedom from Material Bondage
"One who engages in full devotional service, unfailing in all circumstances, at once transcends the modes of material nature and thus comes to the level of Brahman." Seva helps one transcend material attachments.
"Devotional service, beginning with the chanting of the holy name of the Lord, is the ultimate religious principle for the living entity in human society."
- Srimad Bhagavatam 6.3.22
